Insync for Linux Beta13 (0.9.32)

Brett H.

Changelog:
+ symlinks to files are now supported
+ fixed renaming of file-symlinks
+ insync "internal events" are now ignored by syncing core. (previously a download started by Insync itself would generate an Inotify event that was passed to the syncing core)
+ Nautilus context menu now supports "Add to Insync" for files and folders. (creates a new symlink in the selected users root folder)

<img src="http://imageshack.us/scaled/landing/341/addtoinsync.jpg">
Add to Insync
You can now sync files from anywhere in your file system. From the Nautilus context menu, you can now quickly create a symlink to a file or folder and choose which account the symlink will appear in. The symlink will be created with the same name, and placed in the root of that account, and from there you can move it sub-folders.

Please let us know how this Beta compares to the previous Beta10 or other previous Linux beta's you were using. We are interested to hear if this version is slower or faster, more or less stable, messed up folder structure bugs, files getting deleted or moved to root?

Hi Louis, Hi Brett,
yum update works fine again. Synchonization symbols no longer appear on the files.
Happy Holidays ...

@Alexandre D. Is it just some or all files? Are you getting failed task errors in the terminal?

@Brett H.
Hi Brett,
in fact after the last update, Insync doesn't sync any files.
I do a test, adding a file in the computer 1:
<linux.fswatch.event object="" at="" 0xcf8411c="">
('<mask &="" inotify.create="">', u'/home/alexandre/Insync/xxx@gmail.com/pierrot4pommes.jpg')
('<<<new file="">>>', u'/home/alexandre/Insync/xxx@gmail.com/pierrot4pommes.jpg')
<linux.fswatch.event object="" at="" 0xcf840cc="">
('<mask &="" inotify.close_write="">', u'/home/alexandre/Insync/xxx@gmail.com/pierrot4pommes.jpg')
CLOSE_WRITE: modified

But nothing change in the computer 2:
state:SYNCING
('WARN - local file with parent-file-id of zero', GDocsTask(task_type='FS_ADD_REG', state='READY', run_count=0, gdocs_entry=GDocsEntry(resource_id='file:0BwihW8xd7415d2twd1JVZllKdDg', title=u'pierrot4pommes.jpg', changestamp=154745, updated_at='2012-12-27T09:46:29.055Z', is_trashed=False, is_removed=False, num_parents=1), parent_file_id=0))

I hope you have enough informations. Could you fix it ?
Have a nice day.

@Alexandre D. starting with beta11 files without a parent are not allowed. You can force them to be allowed again using the command line option: --allow-no-parent

insync --allow-no-parent

However, this can be dangerous, as it was the cause of the bug where files ended up in the root when they should have been in some sub-folder (the bug being triggered by deleting a shared folder while its contents were still being downloaded)

Let me know if that fixes things for you.

Hi Brett,
I just run insync --allow-no-parent with Beta 13. The synchronisation works but there are no symbol on news files since the last update. Must I use currently this configuration ?
I listen to you.
Alex

@Alexandre D. I do not recommend you use this configuration all the time, if possible only use it to correct sync problems. If you plan to use it all the time, make sure you do not delete shared folders while the contents are still downloading, and it then should be safe.

@Brett H. Hi Brett,
I thank you for your advice. I would use this configuration just to solve synchronization problems while waiting for your next update. I am sure you shall fix this issue.
Regards.
